Certified Nursing Assistant Sponsorship Program

The Community Wellness Collaborative at the Highlander supports career pathways into healthcare and helps strengthen Nebraska Medicine's workforce. Through grant funding from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, we are offering a CNA Sponsorship Program for individuals ready to take the next step after completing the Workforce Readiness Program.

This program covers the cost of Certified Nursing Assistant training through Clarkson College and connects participants to full or part time employment at Nebraska Medicine after successful certification.

Program Requirements: To qualify, you must have completed the five-week Workforce Readiness Program.

The course is a 10-12 week program. It is vital for the success of students that they be able to commit to schedule requirements. A consistent time commitment is required. Students must be able to meet course schedule expectations to be successful.

What's Included

Participants accepted into the program receive:

  • Paid Tuition and Books ($525 value)

  • One set of scrubs

  • Ongoing guidance, mentorship, and resources from Nebraska Medicine Leaders

  • Full or Part time employment as a CNA with Nebraska Medicine upon successful certification completion. (One Year Commitment Required)

Applicants should be prepared to provide accurate work and education history and participate in a screening and interview process. Resources for resume writing and healthcare interview preparation are available here.

This program creates a direct pathway to certification and employment, while removing financial barriers through grant funding.

Duties: CNA

Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.

Required Qualifications: CNA

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required.

  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska.

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications: CNA

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
